Markus drove for ten hours to get spare parts – and was up and running again the very next morning

Markus Edström, who runs the contracting company Östantorp Gård Entreprenad AB in Åtvidaberg, has a Hyundai 145 excavator. When it stopped working in the middle of a clearing, he thought it was the fuel filter – again. 
– I always carry extra fuel filters with me, where appropriate, so I thought it would be easy. But it turned out to be something completely different, explains Markus.

The fault was in the actual filter holder and the water separator. The threads had completely disappeared and air had entered the system. Despite checking with both general and authorised dealers, he couldn’t sort it out. The alternatives were both expensive and had long delivery times. 

Conversion solution into the bargain
– I’m still in the start-up phase of my business, and I can’t afford to be standing still for several days. So I called Olsson Parts. There I got hold of several universal filters for the same price I would have paid otherwise, and at the same time was given help with a conversion solution that’s going to make the next change much easier. 
Markus, who needed to be up and running again as soon as possible, was a little hesitant about the speed of the postal system.
– The salesman joked and said that I could come to Ellös and pick up the parts in the boxes at the goods collection point. ”It’s open until 10 pm, so you’ll have time,” he said and we both had a good laugh.

Markus hung up, had a serious think and then called back:
– Put it the box, I’m getting in the car now!
Almost ten hours later, he was back in the clearing with the new parts and, after converting the system, he was up and running again the following morning.
– Not only did I save several days of downtime, but also many thousands of kronor. I also had a nice trip to the west coast. It’s very beautiful in Ellös!
For Markus, it wasn’t just a quick fix to an urgent problem – it was also a step towards running his business more efficiently.
