The summer job in the warehouse in the summer of 1990 led, a few years later, to a permanent position. Today Thomas Olsson is one of the key people in the product team at Olsson Parts.
From the warehouse on to the sales department, then catalogue maker – ”back then we had printed catalogues with the whole range” – in what later became the marketing department. Today Thomas works as a range developer in the product department.
− Besides the fact that I really enjoy it, there's always been the opportunity to develop. That makes it easy to stay as long as I have, says Thomas.
What does a range developer do?
− We scan the market, look for suppliers and select parts that we then enrich our range with, write product information, link products and models together and make sure they become sellable on olssonparts.com. There are also a fair few supplier and trade-fair visits, both domestic and abroad.
Thomas and his colleagues in the product department have their different focus areas and become something of experts on precisely ”their” brands. So whatever Thomas doesn't know about Valtra and Volvo BM isn't worth knowing?
− Well, if only it were that good, Thomas laughs.
What's the best thing about your job?
− The colleagues and the variety. One day I'm at the computer looking for parts, the next I'm in the workshop measuring a seal or discussing a quote with the purchasing department. It's a very free job, and I enjoy that.
